Hollywood's Finest: Humphrey Bogart Art

Typecast as gangsters in most of his early films, Bogart's first significant role came in "High Sierra" (1941). That same year, "The Maltese Falcon" saw him successfully portraying a more complex character. In "Casablanca" (1942), Bogart played a true romantic leading man. He was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar, and the film won Best Picture. He met Lauren Bacall when filming "To Have and Have Not" (1944) and became her leading man in the film and in life. In later years, he won an Oscar for Best Actor in "The African Queen" (1951) and was nominated for the same for "The Caine Mutiny" (1954).

Our Marilyn Monroe art recreates her unique allure. Likewise, our Humphrey Bogart art is as classic as he was. Read on to learn more about the real Bogart.

Simply Dazzling: Marilyn Monroe Art

Despite being one of the most memorable actresses of all time, Marilyn Monroe struggled early in her career. She was signed by studios, then dropped, then signed again. She did not have a leading role until 1952 in "Don't Bother to Knock". This performance convinced the studio she was able to act in starring roles. "Niagara" followed in 1953, and she proved she could lead a big-budget film. Later that year, "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and "How to Marry a Millionaire" firmly established her as a major a box-office draw.

John Wayne worked as a prop man for Fox until winning his first starring role in the western "The Big Trail"(1930, but it was the 1939 movie "Stagecoach" that established him as a star. Over the next several decades, he would play the lead in numerous westerns, war movies, and others. It was westerns, however, for which he was most remembered.
